Can you tell me anything else about the Ghost Killer on Bones? — Patty
Not sure what you mean by “else,” so let’s start from the top. As you may have heard, the “Ghost Killer” will kick into high gear in 2014 after the gang finds a link between a bunch of cold cases. In the first episode back in January, we will be “pointed in the direction” of the Ghost Killer, according to EP Stephen Nathan. “[The Ghost Killer] is a very ephemeral presence and sort of an evil that lurks in the shadows, someone whose identity we are not even sure of,” he says. He also warns, however, that the establishment of this new killer doesn’t mean we’re quite done with that other guy. “We also haven’t, let’s say, felt the end of Pelant,” he teases.

Hey Sandra! I heard about a Hodgins-centric episode coming up on Bones. I’m glad because it’s been a while. Any scoop on it? — Jenny
“Coming up” — not so much. You’ll have to wait until February for it. But it sounds like a goodie. Per Nathan: “Hodgins finds out…some secrets about that family that are going to be quite surprising to him. And it is not going to be grand political secrets or anything like that. It’s going to be very, very personal.”

Anything else you can tell us about the new serial killer coming up on Bones? — Layla
ADAM: As executive producer Stephen Nathan previously hinted, the new nemesis will be much more of a shadow-dweller than Pelant. "We will not know whether or not we are meeting the person when we see the episode," Nathan teases. However, Brennan will definitely be on the lookout. "[Pelant's warning] is in the back of Brennan's mind," Emily Deschanel says. "Where she has doubts is whether, when Pelant died, their hopes of solving those murders died with him. I think she fears it did." Pelant's words may not be the only thing haunting Brennan: Nathan teases we will see Pelant again in the flesh! Might Brennan be seeing ghosts again?

What better way to celebrate the fact that's almost Friday than with an exclusive Bones sneak peek that highlights Booth (David Boreanaz) and Brennan's (Emily Deschanel) wedded bliss?!
In an adorable clip from the Fox's hit all-new episode, the couple is enjoying a meal together at their favorite diner and Booth just can't contain his happiness.
"We married, Bones," Booth says while enjoying his chili a little too much. "The sun is brighter, the air is crisper." Excuse us for a moment while we mop up the damage done after our hearts melted like popsicles on the Fourth of July.
Of course, Bones isn't as much of a sucker for Booth's gushfest as we are...

Brennan, of course, has a rational explanation for Booth's observations, but he explains to his wife, "Love, it changes everything. Don't you feel different now that you're married?"
Of course, she does: Brennan's very aware of the ring on her left hand, but "she'll adapt" because she loves Booth. Awww! But their adorable diner date is brutally interrupted when Booth gets a call about a body that literally makes him sick. (Um, ew!)
In the episode, "The Mystery in the Meat," the Jeffersonian team investigates the murder of a scientist whose remains were tossed in a meat grinder and then mixed into cans of stews that are served in a school cafeteria. No wonder Booth had to stop eating his chili!
Bones airs Friday at 8 p.m. on Fox.

Season nine, time for a long-lost sibling! Yes, one of the team members will learn they have a brother they never knew about in an upcoming episode. But their new family member will not be doing too well. (He could possibly recur, by the way.)

Ausiello: The show is adding a new male squintern to the rotation in 2014. “He’s someone who came to the country seeking asylum,” shares exec producer Stephen Nathan of the to-be-cast role. “He was a very, very prominent forensic anthropologist in his own country, but [in the U.S.] he’s a student because he has to get his degree again. He has to work his way up to a position that he already occupied for many years. He feels that he’s Brennan’s equal, but Brennan really doesn’t feel the same.” His country of origin? “He’s not from the Middle East,” Nathan allows. “He defected from this hemisphere. So that’s something that everyone should be able to narrow down.” (Sorry, I was terrible at geometry.)

Bones Exclusive: Season 9 Ends on a Cliffhanger – Is Season 10 a Foregone Conclusion?
Rumors of Bones‘ imminent demise have been greatly exaggerated.
Despite concerns among fans that Fox sent the long-running drama to Fridays to die, Booth and Brennan have more than held their own on the ratings-chgallenged night. In fact, Bones producers have been so encouraged by the show’s resiliency that they’re looking ahead to a 10th season.

“We’re going out on a pretty big cliffhanger at the end of this [ninth] season,” exec producer Stephen Nathan tells TVLine. “It will change, at least temporarily, the landscape of the show. It really will be a very big shift in how Booth and Brennan will be dealing with crimes in the future.”
Since relocating to Fridays in mid-November, Bones‘ ratings have trended upward two consecutive times, with its most recent audience — 7 million viewers — nearly matching its final Monday broadcast. It also placed No 1. in the 8 o’clock hour in its past two outings.
“I’m thrilled with the numbers on Friday,” Nathan enthuses. “It’s the first time in years that [Fox has] won that hour.”
However, should Fox pull the plug at the 11th hour, Nathan says a “contingency plan” is in place wherein the season finale could be turned into a series finale. And if that doesn’t satisfy fans, Nathan laughs, “Everybody can come over to my house and we’ll do a 10th season in the living room.”

'Bones' Season 9 to end with a cliffhanger: What could stop a Season 10?
Even on Fridays, "Bones" cannot be stopped. The show's producers are so confident in their series, in fact, that there are plans to end Season 9 with a cliffhanger that will roll into a Season 10 in the fall of 2014.

What could possibly stop "Bones" now?

Having moved to Fridays for the final episodes of its fall run, "Bones " managed to hang on to most of its Monday audience. The show has won the 8 p.m. slot for FOX on Fridays and thus looks to be a good bet for renewal. "We're going out on a pretty big cliffhanger," executive producer Stephen Nathan told TVLine in a recent interview. "It will change, at least temporarily, the landscape of the show. It really will be a very big shift in how Booth and Brennan will be dealing with crimes in the future."

Nathan also offered assurances that there are plans to switch the Season 9 finale to a series finale, should it come to that.

But why would it come to that? Here are the reasons "Bones" could stop before Season 10:

Precipitous ratings drops are not impossible. "Bones" counts as a success for FOX now, but one slip and newer shows are ready to take is place.
Stars could move on. There have been rumors for years that David Boreanaz has plans to leave at some point. It's hard to imagine "Bones" continuing without one or both of its stars.
The vagaries of network decision-making could come into play. Why do networks make the choices they do? No one seems to have much of an explanation for that.
Although it seems unlikely at this point, the plot could reach a satisfying conclusion and end.

"Bones" will return with new episodes on Fridays at 8 p.m. this winter.

Relax. It’s going to be OK. EP Stephen Nathan went on to tell Ausiello that the potentially premise-altering twist does not pertain to Booth and Brennan’s personal life. “They’re not getting divorced or anything,” he assured. “We’re not going through nine seasons and then send them on the road to ruin. That’s not going to happen. They could be on a road to ruin but it’s not a personal ruin. They’re fine.”
